Speaking

Caryn Sullivan began writing columns for the St. Paul Pioneer Press Opinion page when her son with autism turned 16 years old. Always mindful of the lesson her mother imparted before her early cancer death – “Life isn’t fair” – Caryn informs and familiarize others about life experiences that may be new or unfamiliar…and offers her perspective on what we can learn from them.

While she shares the challenges her family has faced – autism,  breast cancer, and a bone marrow transplant, followed by her husband’s premature death – she also shares others’ experiences with the tough stuff in life. For everyone has a story. Faced with difficulty,  we have a choice:  We can be bitter…or better.

Caryn has a wealth of stories and insights suitable for many audiences – care providers, parents, cancer survivors, widows, or folks who are just trying to figure out life.  A recovering attorney, she cut her teeth on public speaking as a prosecuting attorney “back in the day.” These days, she welcomes the opportunity to take a break from her computer and to interact with an audience.
